Maccini Dino

Dino Maccini was born in Piacenza on the 5th of July in 1963. He is a young artist that proposes a great expressiveness craft. With inspiration and skill of the ancient mosaic masters, he joins marble, glass and glaze tesserae in sophisticated and modern shapes. The innate passion for the art, and particularly for the mosaics, took him to Ravenna, where he learned this ancient technique with the master Marco Santi, teacher of the International School of Mosaic. The deepened study of mosaic art took him to a continuous improvement of the manufactures, unique in their type, because they are made in a completely handicraft way. In fact, Dino Maccini gets every single tesserae cutting it with hammer and trap. In his laboratory-refuge, he works at mosaics with devotion and passion of ancient times, making innovative works, new and of great impact.  Evidence of that art are flexible mosaics and real stone carpets that can be used as tapestries. Also very modern are those mosaics with edges that seem to be moved by the wind, like flags with the folds forever fastened in their gentle waving; or the tesserae that drove angular borders hit you as if they were welded sheets of crumpled paper. Nevertheless, Dino Maccini’s creativity does not stop here: experimentation impassions him and beside marble tesserae and glass paste, splinters of wood and metal inserts appear mixed to progressive colour shades that create precious and very refined works.
