Smirne Chiara

Chiara Smirne was born the 13 July 1980 in Novara (Italy), where she had lived until she was 25.
Even as a child she was interested in drawing, as testified by the several fantastic characters she created.
Soon, the use of color became a way to express her emotional feelings, as well.
She attended the secondary school specializing in an artistic education (Casorati, in Novara) and, then, the faculty of Literature and Philosophy (at the UniversitàCattolica del SacroCoure, Milan), because of her equally strong literary interest.
In 2009/2010 she felt the need to restart expressing herself by painting, so she decided to attend some painting courses at NABA and at "ScuolaSuperiored'ArteApplicata del CastelloSforzesco" in 2010/2011.
Her artistic vision implies the research of a deep and dreamlike dimension of reality, pointing her attention upon several, apparently meaningless, elements: blinks of an eye, streetlights, advertisement posters, dark stairs, empty streets.
She is very interested in reproducing her feelings and impressions through her way of painting. She focuses on urban landscapes and feminine figures.
